Camping at the Beach

A couple of weekends ago we camped at a beautiful wooded campground overlooking the beach. It was so awesome...two of my favorite things together: camping and the beach! We arrived Friday night and set up camp by lantern light. Aaron made an incredible fire while I pitched the tent. We roasted hot dogs and later made s'mores...the girls were in heaven! That night in the tent was a little rough with Daphne, but not enough to prevent us from doing it again the next night! The next morning we explored the campground and then headed down to the beach. We had a fun day basking in the sun, playing in the waves, digging in the sand, taking a beach run (Aaron), eating lunch, and flying our fairy kite. We cheated a little bit and went out to dinner on Saturday night after our day at the beach before heading back to the campground to get cleaned-up. That night we attended a special Hawaiian folk-music program at the campground before heading back to our own campsite where we put the kids to bed, then drank hot cocoa and gazed at the fire. The next morning we woke up, packed up camp, and caught a Sacrament meeting on the way home. It was the perfect weekend!

Grace and Eve had so much fun exploring around our campsite. They collected sticks, rocks, and other interesting objects and then organized them on different shelves in the empty food cabinet.

Daphne enjoying the tent (it was the only place she was free to walk around...which is her absolute favorite thing to do right now.)

Getting started on their sand castle.

Ready to ride a wave (hee hee!)

Aaron and Grace running out for a swim.

Daphne feeling exhausted after a rough night's sleep and no nap. Thank goodness for Daddy's shoulder!

When life gives you lemons...

The girls had a lemonade stand last month. I finally gave in to their request after several months of putting them off ever since they saw an episode of Curious George in which George had his own stand. It was adorable how patient they were as they sat on our less-than busy street waiting for their customers. When they finally would see a car passing by they would get really excited and wave and shout, "lemonade...10 cents a cup!" What they lacked in quantity of customers they made up for with tips. One customer tipped them $2 each for such great service (a.k.a. cuteness.) I just love these little entrepreneurs!
