On Friday Grace "graduated" from preschool. I didn't know there was such a thing! I guess I did, I just never thought about it before...but now I have a graduated child! Okay, so in the grand scheme of things preschool graduation ranks pretty low in importance, but right now for me it marks a lot! It brings me to the scary realization that in a few short months my sweet, innocent four-year old with be in kindergarten. It always seemed so far away. I realize that kindergarten is only a few hours a day and a pretty safe environment, but there is just something so unsettling about having her out of my grasp on such a regular basis. I know it needs to happen, and I really feel like shAnyway, enough about my worries, I want to write a little bit about the graduation ceremony. It was so cute! They all marched on stage to the graduation song and took their seats. Each child was called up individually to receive his/her diploma. It was really sweet because the teachers said something special about each of them. When it was Grace's turn her teacher said that she was "a free spirit who likes to take her shoes off at recess and walk around barefoot!" Her teacher also commented that she liked the way Grace would always come up to her and say "Can you tell me a story?" Afterwards all of the graduates stood up and sang "I'm in the Lord's Army" (it's a Catholic Preschool.) Throughout the program (and especially when her name was called) I could see the proud expression on Grace's face, like she really had accomplished something (plus she really likes being on stage in front of people!) Congratulations my little graduate!
